:: Hats off ::
You sports fans out there know about Roger Clemens' performance on Wednesday, pitching lights-out against the Marlins and dedicating that game to his mother, Bess Clemens, who died that day.

Last season, the game after his father passed away, Brett Favre orchestrates a passing performance against the Raiders that amazed even the broadcasters to point that they used terms like "otherworldly."

Two seasons ago Frisco Giants pitcher Jason Schmidt tosses a two-hit shutout after his mother passes away - in the middle of a tight pennant race - successfully ending any and all past criticisms about him lacking fortitude. (And you know it impressed me since I'm praising a Giants pitcher.)

Many, many years ago Pete Sampras' close friend and coach Tom Gullickson passed away from a tumor. It affected Sampras to the point where he was broke down during a match against rival Jim Courier during the Australian open. He somehow not only won that match, but won the tournament.

Any time I hear stories like this, I'm amazed and inspired.
